You'll mostly likely need to download the vmware-any-any patch:

http://ftp.cvut.cz/vmware/vmware-any-any-update109.tar.gz

First install vmware how you usually would (tarball or rpm) then once
its gets the kernel module section and it dies, then run the script (as
root) from the vmware-any-any tarball and it'll carry on from where the
install left off.

But before you do that, yeah, you'll probably want to clean up the
broken symbolic links for your kernel headers.
