The whole point of GPG and friends is that you SIGN the particular
text you send to the server so it can trust that it came from an
authorized source and wasn't modified on the way. So yes, you'll need
a utility to let you sign the message.

Don't take this lightly - if you are not sure what you are doing with
it then take the time to learn about this, otherwise you'll be opening
a huge hole in your server's security.
