I picked up a Sagem music player device. However, I haven't had any joy
with it seeing my shared mp3 folders, in Etch.

There is a Debian issue of mt-daapd for Etch, but it won't start. It
echoes a variety of error messages depending on what I've configured in
mt-daapd.conf:
  Invalid config directive: db_type
  Invalid config directive: db_parms
  Invalid config directive: plugin_dir
  Invalid web_root

Also in /var/log/messages is:
*** WARNING *** The programme 'mt-daapd' uses the HOWL compatiblity
layer of Avahi.
*** WARNING *** Please fix your application to use the native API of
Avahi!

I guess I could remove this install and compile a source. However I
expected something in the Debian distribution tree ought to work with
only minor work eg to point to the actual mp3 directory.

There's another indication that the problem might be elsewhere -
according to some web posts, sharing the Rhythmbox library ought to let
the directory show up on the Sagem (though I'd rather have a daemon do
the job).

Any ideas on tracing out his problem? (I would like to solve it by
25th!)

Thanks,

Kevin.
