Sluggers,

I'm trying to get a dual head operation working on a Matrox G400 card under ubuntu GG. When I start X it warns me that for dual head I need to get the mga_hal_drv.so from Matrox.

I have had this card working under FC5 by installing the drivers (mga_drv.so and mga_hal_drv.so) from the matrox site. However the latest version of these drivers from Matrox is not new enough for the version of X that comes with Gutsy. I downloaded the src for the drivers from the matrox site but haven't been able to get past the ./configure stage as it can't find the installation of X under gutsy gibbon.

Reading on the ubuntu forums suggests that all that is required is the appropriate xorg.conf but even using the xorg.conf that I saved from the FC5 installation doesn't work. I'm pretty much convinced that I need the mga_hal_drv.so

Cluesticks?

Thanks

Pete

P.S I don't seem to get a response from mailman when I try to subscribe to the mailing list so not currently subscribed.
