With CHAP, it works just like PAP.

you have a chap-secrets file rather than a pap-secrets file
both the same format

there will be an option telling wvdial to use pap, then,
having made the chap-secrets file, you just change from
pap to chap.

im not sure with distribution you are using, but
'pppconfig' comes with debian.
