Installing Gutsy to replace Feisty on the laptop.

As a result of updating, I had items I no longer wanted (or even suspected
I had) including a stack of superceded kernels, ie., I decided to install
rather than upgrade, in the belief that the HD would be wiped.

Went through the business, followed nose, finally told to remove disk and
restart.

And found that the kernels were still present; presumably the superfluous
items might be a s well.

Does anyone have any idea what went wrong?

Any help etc.

Regards,

Bill Bennett.
