The calendar that comes with Gnome (when you click the date) lists the
first day of the week as Sunday - how would I change it to Monday?

I've right clicked on stuff, looked in System, Preferences; didn't find
anything. I've also dredged thru gconf-editor - only close setting ('week_start_day') applies to Evolution.
Did you try changing it anyway? :)

The calendar in the clock applet drop-down draws its info through the evolution-data-server, and I'm pretty sure it respects that evo gconf key too. Mine is set to '1', and my calendar starts on a Monday.
