I wouldn't go so far to say dumb, but perhaps, "not in the loop". The
information about the alternative install or server install ISO's have
not reached you yet. But both of those are alternative methods for
installation :-) Personally, I carry a server install around with me
all the time. You never know what kind of bind you can get yourself
out of with it. Also, it is a quick install and jumping point, if
necessary, to all the other flavors via the {e,k,x}ubuntu-desktop
metapackages...
