I have 3 Gigabyte mobos wit Realtek sound and Gigabit LAN chips, plus a laptop with realtek 10/100 LAN. No problems with any of them.

Running/have run MintLinux, DreamLinux, Ubuntu/Kubuntu 6.06 to ( today) 8.04 beta, plus various other distros (tinyme, minime, pupy, RedHat etc) all w/o problems.

G'day Sluggers,

Time to upgrade my old PII machine. The local computer shop uses Gigabyte motherboards in all there pre-assembled machines. (The also sell ASUS and Abit boards separately)

I was thinking of using the GA-P35-DS3P M/B that comes with Realtek ALC889A codec for sound and Realtek 8111B chip for LAN. Going to run Ubuntu 7.10 on it. Has anyone had compatibility issues with these boards. Can only find questions on parts not working on the net!

Thanks,
Murray.
