I can't point you to documentation, but the answer is:

Postfix hands mail over to Cyrus via LMTP[1], at which point
responsibility ends.

This should be at the "local delivery" stage, configured via the Postfix
'mailbox_transport' setting.  That way Postfix alias expansion, etc,
will still happen before handing the email to Cyrus.
