to hand-generate key do :

rndc-confgen -a -b 128 -t /var/named/chroot -r keyboard
if you are in a chroot env, or simply
*rndc-confgen* *-a
*to allow *rndc* to be used with no manual configuration.
or even simpler, to print a sample *rndc.conf* file and corresponding
*controls* and *key*
statements to be manually inserted into *named.conf*, run
*rndc-confgen*

but please backup before, just in case !
