Thankyou all for the feedback.

I think I see what the problem is now.

Some ISPs simply seem to think that:

- all BOUNCE messages are unsolicited & _therefore_ ALL unsolicited messages are SPAM !

Is this absolutely True!! ........of course not!

If I misspell a username I WANT a bounce message to ALERT me to the fact.....
( especially if the same MTA is sender & receiver)

Now some people will not appreciated some bounces are solicited and some are UNsolicited.

A bounce from a spoofed sender address would be an unsolicited message and herein lies the problem!

Some ISPs seem to try to differentiate and some won't even bother.

Special cases of eating email when identified as
- spam
- or with viruses
- or with invalid sender address .....
 seems reasonable to me though.

It seems that enforcing RFC's would be impossible given everyones feedback.

All this still does beg the Question ....
Does not bouncing reduce spam?
If postmaster AT firstMTAdomain.xxx sends all the bounces , email loops would not exist ... I would suggest.
That is a question I will pose to exetel.

Thx again

Roger
