Yes it'll work but do it from single user mode and move the original aside (e.g. Call it /var.old) until you are confident that the operation succeeded.
(sorry for top posting) --Amos -original message- Subject: Re: [SLUG] Full / partition From: "Geoffrey Cowling" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: 17/08/2008 02:49 I am intending to add a var partition but on the other, bigger disk. Will do so promptly! If I copy this var to new partition--will that work?? I was wanting to install 64 Debian--but for some reason no installer disks (downloaded or purchased by mail) will boot, though magazine Ubuntu 32 did! I was wondering if I could put files on large disk, and install from there. Hard to teach a (very) old dog new tricks ... Thank you very very much Geoffrey -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
