Hi all,
Just thought I'd finish this thread. The Linksys WMP54G v4.1 wireless
network card works perfectly in Ubuntu 8.04 but I have been unable as
yet to get it to work in either Debian 5 or SuSE 11.
My problem was solved by restarting the modem which had somehow set the
download speed at 412 instead 1500. It got sorted after a reboot.
The Linksys WRT54G2 wireless router works perfectly and was easy to set
up using its web interface.
Note: Ubuntu sees the wlan card as:

 RaLink RT2561/RT61 802.11g

Thanks James for starting the "little grey cells" working in the right
direction.
