Did you buy the consumer drives, rated for operation 8/5 (or 16/5), or
the "enterprise", "server" or "RAID" drives, rated for 24x7 operation?
Most disk vendors have multiple lines and, at least in theory, might
well optimize the disks for one purpose or another in terms of lifespan.
So, yeah, it might contribute. Probably not, but it might.
