3 aren't much good if you want decent coverage. They _only_ do 3G, and if you want access in a non-3G zone prepare to pay through the nose (you'll be roaming onto Telstra). Your choices in this matter are: * just pay for it (I think it's charged at $1.65/MB) * carefully monitor your connection, and disconnect whenever you lose 3G * you can set the connection software to only use 3G (the Vodafone software and newer versions of NetworkManager can do this) Any of these is a real pain in the bum. Note that you can't assume that you'll get a 3G signal in a metro area. Often you'll find your connection flicking back and forth, particularly if you're on the move (e.g. on a train). I've given up on 3 and have moved to Exetel. They resell the Optus network, and charge by usage (1.5c/MB) with a nominal access fee ($5/mth). Coverage isn't flawless, but it is affordable and still better than 3. -- Bring choice back to your computer. http://www.linux.org.au/linux -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
