Thank to all those that have answered my call for help. I can report that i have now recovered all data from the partition overwrite and format. The System Rescue Cd did the trick. Note i have just brought a second External HD to alternative the backups on so i hope this will help prevent this type of dumb thing again.
Finally I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year from my family and myself. regards Daryl Lesson learned " sleep is important, do not format, repartition and install on little sleep, as something might and will go wrong" -----Original Message----- From: Dean Hamstead <[email protected]> To: Daryl Thompson <[email protected]> Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: [SLUG] How do you un-partition a HD Date: Tue, 23 Dec 2008 09:43:29 +1100 did you install on to the external hard disk? what format was the external hard disk before and after?
