*Wikipedia *definition:* GetUp!* is an *Australian
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia> political organisation
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_organisation>
*that campaigns on issues important to its members. It was launched in
August 2005,
the week that the Coalition
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coalition_%28Australia%29> took control of
the Australian Senate <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Senate>.
What a lot of gobbledygook. How naive do politicians think we voters are?
Labor party members should not be permitted to masquerade as independent
members
of the community who are supposedly joining together to oppose
unfavorable laws and legislation
made by politicians.
Otherwise it's just a blatant case of a conflict of interests.
The saying "you can't have a foot in each camp" also applies here and
is a very wise statement that needs to be observed in many instances and
this is one.
Facts are that: GetUp was created to foil the workings of a true Human
Rights group known as
UPMART.org
Unfortunately the getup masqueraders have caused Upmart a lot of damage
which in turn has caused the community as a whole to suffer bad laws
that could have been won over by now.

Getup wasn't set up by the labor party but a number of the main
organisers are members of it, particularly of the right faction. In
saying that I don't think that matters so long as they keep that part
of their professional lives separate and dont let that compromise the
role of Getup. As for the 300 000 members or whatever they're up to
now, I don't think they've ever done a survey of party affiliation, as
far as I can recall at least.
