Yes, that was an amazing meeting. IIRC, we'd expected maybe a dozen people, and got closer to fifty. We had far too few chairs, and almost no refreshments.
The main business of the meeting was not presentations on the R3000 board, or recent Linux developments, but rather how to organise a LUG that was obviously going to be MUCH bigger than we'd thought. I got names and email addresses, and set up the mailing list on one of Softway's servers in the week after that first meeting. 17 years on, it's still going strong. The original organisers (Rob Thomas, Chris Fraser, Jeremy Fitzhardinge and myself) are all still active in Linux, but I think I'm the only one left in Sydney. I haven't heard anything of Rob for years; Chris is in London, and Jeremy in San Francisco. -- Dr Peter Chubb http://www.gelato.unsw.edu.au peterc AT gelato.unsw.edu.au http://www.ertos.nicta.com.au ERTOS within National ICT Australia -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
