Hi Sonia,

My 80 yo mother has used Ubuntu LTS since 2006 (Dapper). She used to
freak out whenever she saw the update notifications so I've turned them
off and I run updates for her when I visit & upgrade her system when a
new LTS version is released. Screen resolution & system-fonts are set
for her optimal viewing (big) and she has learnt to use claws-mail with
the occasional tute/walkthrough from me over the phone. She prints and
downloads her photos without too much trouble and she is hooked on
playing Gnubg. The PABX phone system in her retirement village has
meant that she has to use a mobile broadband dongle to connect to the
net. Thus far, she hasn't managed to break anything!
