Thanks for the info. I have discovered that just downloading the required plugin each time I start the computer solves the problem for now. The info on the forums site is a few years out of date. The P1005 is supported out of the box now with a plugin from HP. This works in all distros EXCEPT Ubuntu 11.04 which finds it hard to retain the information between boots.
