Sorry I figured out the issue. What I was having trouble with was a simple yum update through RHEL 5.
What I had was to allow 443 between host and https://xmlrpc.rhn.redhat.com, which redhat documentation and redhat costumer service told me that was all I needed. But I found that communication also needed to be allowed from host to https://deploy.akamaitechnologies.com.
