I agree that Gambas 3 is certainly a great development environment. I
was using Gambas 2 but when I imported my projects into Gambas 3 I had
to make several changes to make them work. Maybe the changes are for the
better - I shall see.
It is much easier to develop in than VB in my opinion but that may be
more my emerging familiarity with the environment. I particularly like
its ability to create install packages for different Linux distros.

I highly recommend it as an easy way for the non-programmer to develop
apps for personal use.
