I recently had a problem and had to replace my motherboard and cpu. After the replacement the system would not boot. It came up with a console and the following:

No such device:3c7c2249-34ed-484d-9e36-bd40223e1c34
grub>

I thought that the number might be the old UUID of sda1 so I reinstalled the OS (Ubuntu 13.04) and allowed it to wipe and use all of sda as I keep my home drive on sdb. The numbers may have changed (I'm not sure as I only copied the latest set) but the machine still won't boot and comes up with the same error.

Any ideas appreciated as I have never had this happen before.

NOTE: I have reinstalled several times now with both Ubuntu and Sabayon but the error remains.
