Vmware server is free (goto downloads section on vmwares website), and works
much better. Virtual PC ostensibly is a piece of shit. Also you can download
q-emu disk image ready version of alot of linux distros. Qemu being the
premier opensource (gpl'd) cross platform Virtual Machine. I carry a
lightweight secure linux environment on a businesscard CD/USB stick. It will
load on any PC (Macs, Windows, Or Other Linux) as an unprivileged user of a
loopback encrypted vm, using qemu. It's perfect for netcafes/ countries with
suppressive requiems etc uses a vpn or tor or combination of the two to make
all net activity fairly safe. (Keyloggers can still be an issue).

I base my own little version of it off debian, but got the idea from
metropipe distro http://www.metropipe.net/ ( which is basically a few
customised ncurses dialogues setup to use there vpn servers as a payed
service option (if you want) but otherwise is basically the same idea.

Have fun.

Kind regards
