Hello Singnet will be decommissioning/tearing down their dialup infrastructure within the next few months. Being on a $10/month dialup subscription purely to retain my @singnet.com.sg email address puts me and others like me in a bind. The Singtel Hello Shop salespeople tried to sell me a two-year minimum ADSL contract for $15/mo or 1 year contract for $30/mo. After a two-hour wait in line, the "Hello Executive Sales Engineer" advised me that I either upgrade and pay more, or lose my account :o ! After a further 20 minutes of back-and-forth I left the store convinced that I'll just have to give up my cheap access to my 8year-old @singnet.com.sg account.
BullTwang! That night I hit the Singnet website and discovered that they have a $10/mo subscription to their 1Mbps [EMAIL PROTECTED] service, no contract, online signup, next-day-activation, *and* you get to keep your @singnet.com.sg email address :) Hopefully this hugely off-topic post will help someone else in the same boat.
