I think to be fair for the "poor innocent" SMU OS3 group that organize this talk, leave them a room space to have this opportunity to allow student at least to know what are some possibilities of using open source in the corporate world. Perhaps in the future other parties from other companies can come in to share on the experiences as well. It is definitely not going to restrict to Novell alone.

They may be the first to be there is that they are offering the package for the SMU students. Nevertheless it does not constrain others to enter and share on their viewpoint and experience if they are able to introduce this open source spirit and its community to people who are new to it. Especially to business students who are easily deceived by the choices available or ease of usage on proprietary over open source.

I hereby would like to thanks the wonderful new committee that took over from us (previous exco members) and had this initiative.

Cheers,

He's just being sarcastic that Novell is being called to give talks to
open-source community after all those patents agreement what-not with
Microsoft. GPLv3 is supposed to block such exclusive agreement in the
future.

In that case he should make a plackard summarizing his grievances. Come up with a catchy slogan , and picket the SMU entrance, heckling all who dare enter :D
