1) What distribution are you using?
2) What systems fail to load? Is there a particular service that takes
exceptionally long to startup/timeout?

I am now back to school.
My school plan to implement Linux. I managed to get an ex-student of
mine who study networking in Poly. He has now return to NUS to continue
his studies. He has help me alot in setting up linux, joining domain,
map shared folder, network printing etc.
However, the system he set up work only on admin lan point in the school.
When we switch to acad lan point, the startup is too a very long time
and some servies will fail to load.
Not sure if you have any advice or any friends or IT professional that
can help me in this?
