Hello Sam,

You may wish to hang out in some of the relevant irc channels on freenode and 
oftc server. These are great learning grounds for you to ask questions and 
interact real time. Depending on the culture of the channel, you might be ask 
to RTFM.

For generic SG techie channels, check out #linuxnus(http://linuxnus.org/), 
#nutoss, #ubuntu-sg (http://ubuntu.sg/irc). AFAIK, these are very newbie 
friendly. And there are great discussions going on especially in the evenings.
