Also aren't there various flavors on both sides - are you talking about standard EL or the advanced version - and you need to factor in MS support on top of the ticket price for the OS. i.e. are you comparing apples with apples.
I would be quite surprised if W2003 Data Center edition with 3 years additional support from MS is only S$1400 (although I can't say I really know much about the MS pricing model for support - it otherwise sounds too good to be true).
