Hi All,

I've recently noticed a few unsubscribe requests posted directly to the list so I thought i'd take the opportunity to give instructions on how to go about unsubscribing from a mailman list.

Firstly, please do not post unsubscribe requests directly to the list address, this is not one of the methods and doing so is discouraged.

Here are 4 ways to do it:

* Using the web interface http://www.lugs.org.sg/mailman/listinfo/slugnet
* Send empty email to [email protected]
* Send email with 'unsubscribe' in the body to [email protected]
* Send email to [email protected] so the administrator can manually remove you

If you have forgotten the address you signed up with, please inspect the list headers or email slugnet-owner and let us assist.

Also note, at the end of every list message is a footer with a link to the FAQ which also has instructions on how to do it:

Please visit the LUGS Mailing list FAQ here: http://wiki.lugs.org.sg/LugsMailingListFaq

I am now amending the footer to be even more explicit:

Please visit the LUGS Mailing list FAQ here: http://wiki.lugs.org.sg/LugsMailingListFaq To change list options visit: http://www.lugs.org.sg/mailman/listinfo/slugnet
To unsubscribe send an empty email to: [email protected]

Finally please consider instead of unsubscribing, adding a mail sort rule to file '[Slugnet]' mail into a folder if you want to reduce your inbox. We have a nice bunch of people here and a almost completely spam free list focusing on Linux and Open Source in Singapore.

Regards,
Michael.

P.S. The slugnet subscriber base is still growing with about 10 or 15 new members in the last month.
