Has anyone thought of/started hacking at, a plugin to contact flexlm
and create something like a generic resource that can be counted and
applied to jobs?
/not volunteering...just yet :-)

I want to hack together a way of restricting jobs to use only the
licenses they request. The simplest scheme I could come up with is
based on a prolog checking the current job for requested licenses and
"doing stuff' so only those jobs can access the licensed software.
There does not appear to be a way, however, to view information about
licenses except with sview, which is obviously not suitable for
scripting. Attached is a small patch that modifies squeue to be able
to display license information using the %w format option: there
aren't many letters left to choose from!
You could also use the output of 'scontrol show job jobid=X' or
probably the Perl API. (in the interim until your patch is accepted).
