I can verify that I did not get the patches in an acceptable format
(The content-type was application/octet-stream) This also caused
the patches to be unviewable in the google groups archive, so
they are lost to posterity.

As a member of the SLURM community I would encourage people to still
send patches to the list. This allows everyone subscribed to the mail
list to see proposed patches and possibly comment on them.
