Probably they will both work.
The select plugin will definitely need modification for the next major release 13.12. Slurm's select and switch plugins are undergoing major changes for Cray system support (without ALPS, for details see: http://slurm.schedmd.com/SUG13/Refactor_ALPS.pdf)
