Dear Moe + team,
Sending old data quickly seems very dangerous, especially if there are scripts submitting jobs and then running squeue to look for them.
Maybe you can give the user the chance to accept this risk by a switch like "-fast" or "-exact"? When working interactively, the user suspects something bad has happened to her jobs, she does not care whether this information has a timestamp of 5 sec in the past.
I agree, if you use this within a script it might lead to wron results. But then, a loop with tons of squeue might slow down the system - I would not like THAT.
Kind regards, Ulf -- ___________________________________________________________________ Dr. Ulf Markwardt Technische Universität Dresden Center for Information Services and High Performance Computing (ZIH) 01062 Dresden, Germany Phone: (+49) 351/463-33640 WWW: http://www.tu-dresden.de/zih
