Federated cluster support will be in the 17.11 release. It is not in the upcoming 17.02 release.

(For reference, the release notes for 17.02 are already available here:
https://github.com/SchedMD/slurm/blob/slurm-17.02/RELEASE_NOTES .)

The most recent presentation on Federation is from SLUG16: https://slurm.schedmd.com/SLUG16/FederatedScheduling.pdf

Please note that there is existing support for coordinated use of multiple clusters - https://slurm.schedmd.com/multi_cluster.html which the Federated cluster work significantly expands upon.

I'm fairly certain that is coming in the 17.02 release.

According to this presentation it was supposed to be in 16.05:

but from what I recall of the SC BoF full functionality was not going to
be available to 17.02

Federated Cluster scheduling
Hi,

I would like to ask if federated cluster scheduling is available in
the currently released Slurm versions. If yes, is there any
documentation about it? Has anyone tried it?

I would appreciate any information.

Thank you.

Anastasia
