The BBC is looking for a new assistant for the English output section of its Jakarta Bureau.
DUTIES:
Under the direction of the BBC Jakarta correspondent, duties include researching news stories; translating in both written and spoken forms between Bahasa Indonesia and English; fixing interviews for television, radio and online outlets; recording actuality and conducting simple interviews both in the field and from the studio; inputing/editing audio on a computer; helping to arrange trips to cover stories. Relevant training will be
provided.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Fluent command of written and spoken English
Keen interest in news and current affairs
Excellent research skills
Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
Good planning and organisational skills
Willingness to travel, often at short notice.
Ability to work under pressure for long hours.
Ability to build up an extensive network of reliable contacts across Indonesia and East Timor.
