I just started using an IPAQ 3950 for this. I use an Orinoco Gold card
with the PCMCIA adapter for the IPAQ. Orinoco has drivers for WinCE...
(the IPAQ3950 is WinCE 3.0) When doing a site survey I just plug an
external antenna into the PCMCIA card and use either Orinoco's client or
Mini-Stumbler to check signal strength. I also use this to do antenna
alignments. My AP's are all Orinoco, so I can use the link test in the
client to check signal both ways. Once aligned I then install the
SmartBridge and connect it to the antenna. This seems to work well for
my installations and site surveys. I purchased everything off of Ebay...
IPAQ is refurbished $389, and the PCMCIA adapter was $49...the Gold card
I had.

What CE handheld do you have? I know that for the iPAQs you can get a
PCMCIA card sleeve (add-on) Not sure about the drivers. I used to have
with an wired ethernet PCMCIA card.
