I have been reading tonight and really reading the archive and have noticed that the majority of problems is based around simple user error so come on guys lets get back to basics even if your not the installer tell them.
A. Check cable length try to keep it as short as possible from unit -> poe I try to keep mine from 50-80 feet and seems to work fine even on the latest SB 12v powerpacks.
B. CRIMP connectors, I know it's a crazy idea but recrimp both ends or have someone else do it, I have crimped a cable 3 times and messed up every time then took a break came back and crimped it and it worked perfect, remember it's finicky some times all the golden pieces have to pierce the wire straight.
C. Double Check your ip's on ap's please use statics as a rule of thumb for intfrastructure devices and every once and a while double check to make sure they all are set properly.
D. Check your switches, this is a problem we have had down here for a long time we use all kindsa switches we have a ecom (it's a nock off of a 3com switch) that has yet to fail us but we have huge HP 4000 managed switches that the ports go freaky, and even the 2424's so just because it's a nice switch don't cross it out of the equation try switching ports this has helped us before it may not be dead just faulty.
E. Check your backhauls, I have noted that some backhauls have problems with multicast and stuff like that specifically the Axxecelera Adaptive Broadband ATM's stay away from em we used to use them now we are gonna start using Tsunami's again.
F. If all else fails or hell even if you just want to be safe PLUG A 18v Power pack in to the units and walla most problems are solved.
G. Did I miss any common problem solutions?
Just my 2 cents and I figured I would say the obvious for anybody out there that might run into a simple problem for the rest of us that's driving you nuts.
