My question is mostly theoretical. I have signal everywhere on the floor from the AP of each floor. But not on a floor on top or below (too much concrete I guess) I have already wired the access points to the switch. I'm asking if it is better to have all the access points on the same channel or distribute them like I have right now (I have 1,6,11,1).

Supposedly the AP will cover the one hallway and the rooms on that wing only. But you will have signal on more areas on and off. Depenting on the antenna used you can determine the coverage. Also another usefull setup is to set the first AP in AP mode and the other three in repeater mode. That way you do not have to worry about cahnnel utilization, etc. Unless you are doing file transfer among the guests you will have no problem passing IP traffic even at the last floor PLUS you do noth have to wire (cat5) all the floors. BTW why do you want to have the same essid ? If you do declare the (common) essid of the APs on the clients but not the ssid the client will connect to any of your APs no matter what channel it set on.
