No, more Stupidity by Marlon. That radio is our latest tower ap. When we put in the feed for the tower I didn't have an ip for the home owner's computer so I used one that was for a radio that hadn't gone up yet.
Sigh, then I forgot to change it when I put in the ap!!!1 TIP: Even though things are going to hell in a handbasket on your network, TAKE YOUR TIME. Think about what you are doing. Lable things (we did lable the radios ;-). Document what you are doing etc. This all started with a router swap. When we did that customers started having trouble. Traced that to interference from a cell phone company. They turned their power down but we still had interference. Was coming from a rogue tt cpe unit. Got that fixed but was still picking up interference from something so we changed all the channels around on the system trying to move away from it. Naturally I was in a hurry and didn't write anything down..... Somehow I ended up with the backhaul on 1 and everything else (3 more systems, 1 could see both others) on 11. Even with different essid's on everything, that created some VERY strange performance issues. Soooo, must be something in the backhaul (VERY high error rates on the client end of it, 20 to 40% fcs errors) so I changed out ALL of the noc end of the link. When I put the radio in I put it on 11 as well! Changed the backhaul back to 1 and all errors went away (I haven't checked for 2 days though). I also set the other three systems so that no 2 that could see each other were on the same channel (the way that it used to be and always should have been!!!!). Now I've got three customers that are still having trouble. One has his puter plugged into a 2 prong adapter and there is enough voltage between the usb radio and the antenna cable that it stings when you touch them with your arm. I've not measured it but I'd guess it's in the 30v range. I'd told him in the past that he needs to get his antenna mast grounded to the electrical system so that they are the same. Turn off the puter and the speakers hum. Not unusual, but it changes depending on if the radio is hooked up or not. Plus, no grounding on the whole puter system! And he's mad at me cause the wireless has been a little flaky...... I may just end up mounting the antenna to something else so that it's not got a path to ground. Number 2 is a buffalo tech usb radio. 150ish yards to the main noc radio. It's reporting excelent signal (it was loosing it's signal all the time, with all radios on the same channel it's no wonder!) but performance is strange. Email flies in, web pages drag. I'm going to pull the approd out and put the breezecom wbs back in today if the rain stays away. I give out great advice. I just need to remember to follow it!!! In the words of Aurther Dent, "Don't Panic!" Now to see if I can figure out how to setup a Mikrotik router with some nat on it......
