Title: RE: [smartBridges] Link Quality does not exceed 90% ever

Replied to your wrong message on the last one…I meant to reply to the antenna post.

Here is my reply to this post.

Ya…GSM is in the area….very weak…but present.

Here is the exact situation.  I have 4 clients that are less than 100 yards from the aPPo using airBridge indoor units.  Their units are on the second floor of their home and are ~15 feet lower in elevation from the omni (which has 3 degree downtilt).  I have done the math, and they are within the bubble of coverage for this antenna…which is why they get 100% RSSI.  So…it puzzles me a bit that they are only getting 87-89% LQ.  Their units are in the windows with absolute clear line of sight.  They do not have 2.4 GHz phones (or any other 2.4 Ghz product).  Maybe I should play with the angle of the ducky antenna on the airBridge indoor unit to see if the take-off angle is a bit off???  This doesn’t actually affect the client’s speed…but it does have me scratching my head??

I really am trying to truly understand ALLLLLL the affects of RSSI, LQ, RTS/CTS, MTU, etc.  Without a complete understanding of the BIG picture, it is impossible to optimize network performance….all of these affect the other.

Thanks!

Sully

What about other things in the area that aren't 2.4ghz ... GSM etc, having above a 90% LQ is hard to get because that's the actually quality of the RF link between the 2 points 90 is a great link but yes down here in the Caribbean I used to be getting 95-98 LQ but that was with backfires and sectors on a few of my repeaters but now with so much interference from GSM sites (there using some freaky frequency for there gsm and backhaul damn euro standards. ) But besides that and some other wisp's im now hovering between 82-92LQ and 80-100 RSSI.

Is this on a Total or ABO?  Are they connecting to an APPO?  What are
the RSSI and LQ #'s are in the AP?

Thanks......Dan
