Thanks - I think the problem is that I wasn't using a cross cable and the router was not sensing the need for it. I'll try a cross on Monday and let ya'll know.

Again, tank to all for the suggestions.

Hi Jason,

If your router is not auto sense mode, please use the cross cable to connect to the DSL modem. Please make sure that by step by step connectivity from DSL modem to APPO1, APPO2 and router. The router not getting WAN IP address means, you need to verify the following parameters. I hope you are using the new release firmware.

  1. Check APPO1(WB) – APPO2(WB-second one) link is successful, can you ping from APPO2 to APPO1.
  2. Connect the router to APPO2, Can you ping from the router?
  3. If ping result is successful, please check the primary of APPO1 = Ethernet, APPO2=Wireless

Please confirm the above and then we continue the troubleshooting if the problem not resolved.

Thanks

Seeni, SB support

ahhhh, so I NEED to use a cross cable to connect the DSL modem to the APPO or the remote router to the APPO?

I'm totally confused - I shouldn;t be working on the weekends!

It's the router as far as I can tell maybe a misconfiguration or something but as far as you havae stated it points straight to the router as the breaking point, you may try crossing the cable manually maybe it isn't autosensing properly.

No. The router also has auto sensing, so this shouldn't be an issue.

This may be a dumb question ... BUT... are you using a crossover adapter to plug the APPo in to the WAN port of the router?

Importance: High

I am having a problem passing DHCP over a PtP link of APPOs. Here is what I have:

DSL Modem - APPO Wireless Bridge - APPO Wireless Bridge - DSL Router (Cheapo D-Link 714P) - Devices

The DSL router is not getting its WAN info from the DSL modem.

However... If I do:

DSL Modem - APPO Wireless Bridge - APPO Wireless Bridge - Vonage ATA or

DSL Modem - APPO Wireless Bridge - APPO Wireless Bridge - Computer w/ Wireless ethernet adapter (on another channel from the APPO wireless bridge, of course)

... the ATA or computer is able to get a WAN address. The Vonage phone works or the computer can browse the Internet.

Furthermore, if I plug the remote APPO into a LAN port of the router, and the ATA into another LAN port, the ATA can get a WAN address and work fine.

I could plug the router directly into the DSL modem and see if it works, but that is not practical at this very second. Any ideas?
