I have an airBridge Outdoor hooked, through 220' of coax, to an Apple
Airport Extreme in the house. I'm using the 1.43 simpleMonitor. When
I want to check the connection, check signal level, re-associate,
whatever, I need to disconnect the Ethernet coax from the Airport,
connect it to one of the Windows machines (reconfigured for the
192.168.xxx.xxx subnet), and run simpleMonitor. Once done, I connect
the coax back to the Airport, reconfigure the PC for the Airport
subnet, and go. Kind of a nuisance. I also considered setting up a
different subnet on the Airport but its options aren't adequate.
I have considered reconfiguring the airBridge with a 10.0.1.201 IP
address that matches the Airport's subnet, and is outside the Airport's
DHCP range, so I can do the aforementioned without the hassle. I can
avoid that hassle by running the 1.5x simpleMonitor but I get frequent
dropped connections when I install that. I'd rather have the 1.42
hassles than the 1.5x hassles.
Can you think of any problems I might buy myself reconfiguring the
airBridge? Is there any other setting that should change besides the
IP address?
TIA
