Take a look at: http://eps.sourceforge.net/,

It sounds interesting.

Subject: [smartBridges] Wireless network mapping

Here's what I envision, I'm wondering if anyone has seen something like
this.

I want to have an omni-directional antenna mounted on the roof of my
truck connected into a computer. There would also be a GPS receiver
connected into this computer. The computer would log the SSID, MAC,
Channel, Crypto Status, and location say every second. This could then
be mapped on a topological map showing signal strengths and such with
one map per SSID.

This would allow me to map my wireless network while I just drive around
much like Verizon does.

Anybody?
