At the same time, ap-util's gives you access (via an easy way) of setting some items that simpleMonitor doesn't allow you to set.
Such as the data rates... I've found that going into ap-util's and setting it to "on" gains you a much faster data rate and better compatibility with other wireless equipment. simpleMonitor just set's it to "basic" mode. Only diff I can figure out between "basic" and "on" is from sniffing there seems to be more management traffic going on. Maybe this is something SB could explain why they chose "basic" as apposed to "on"? btw.. after you set it to "on" in ap-util's, if you go into simpleMonitor it won't show any of the speeds selected.. <rant> another thing I like about ap-util's as aapposed to simpleMonitor... when you make changes in ap-util's, you make all the changes you want. They DO NOT take effect until you go into the "commands" menu and "reset" the unit. In simpleMonitor, every time you hit the "set configuration" button, it reboots the unit. THAT PISSES ME OFF. I would REALLY like to make all the changes, THEN reboot the unit when I'm ready... NOT EVERY FREAKING TIME... </rant> -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Tom Haynes Sent: Monday, August 18, 2003 4:43 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [smartBridges] Linux SimpleMonitor, SimpleNMS, etc software I just looked at ap-utils.polesye.net and it looks like it supports the latest MIB. What features are you looking for that it does not already have? -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Tom Haynes Sent: Monday, August 18, 2003 4:39 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [smartBridges] Linux SimpleMonitor, SimpleNMS, etc software Where is the source code at? Unfortunately, it won't give you access to all the configuration settings that the latest firmware revisions support. Anyone feel like improving ap-utils? ;-) -- LarsG The PART-15.ORG smartBridges Discussion List To Join: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (in the body type subscribe smartBridges <yournickname> To Remove: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (in the body type unsubscribe smartBridges) Archives: http://archives.part-15.org The PART-15.ORG smartBridges Discussion List To Join: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (in the body type subscribe smartBridges <yournickname> To Remove: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (in the body type unsubscribe smartBridges) Archives: http://archives.part-15.org The PART-15.ORG smartBridges Discussion List To Join: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (in the body type subscribe smartBridges <yournickname> To Remove: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (in the body type unsubscribe smartBridges) Archives: http://archives.part-15.org The PART-15.ORG smartBridges Discussion List To Join: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (in the body type subscribe smartBridges <yournickname> To Remove: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (in the body type unsubscribe smartBridges) Archives: http://archives.part-15.org
