The purposed speaker list is really taking off. HIGHLIGHTED are: Jack Rickard (original founder of ISPCON) is tentatively scheduled to speak at one of the keynote addresses to discuss the ISP and WISP history and his foresight on the future of both. The FCC�s Robert Pepper, Chief of Plans and Policy; Julius Knapp, Deputy Chief, Office of Engineering and Technology Robert Cannon, Senior Counsel for Internet Issues Office of Plans and Policy and a local Dallas Enforcement Bureau representative are just a few highlights.

 

Lots of �New Product Announcements� from Proxim, smartBridges, and a great deal of other manufacturers, reseller, and consultants.

 

As usual, there will be plenty of pre-events scheduled. The Moot Court for which a determination of civil recourse regarding interference issues will be played out in a mock trial between two WISPs. Real judges and real attorneys for both sides are busily preparing for the biggest showdown in License Exempt history. Also on Sunday�s pre-conference there are numerous half and full day training from your favorite manufacturers; WaveRider, smartBridges, Mikrotik and many others.

 

WISP 101 Boot Camp � For those that need a full week of in-depth wireless training, P15�s WISP 101 Boot Camp is now taking Early Bird Registration.. This boot camp is designed for someone with little or no background in license exempt wireless. The class will take the student through every aspect of becoming a Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP). The first day is dedicated to the many �back-office� issues such as billing and accounting, marketing, insurance needs, and is a prelude to the second day of learning the basics of wireless equipment. Michael Young, founder of YDI is tentatively scheduled to provide his all day training seminar. The third day of the boot camp is a far more advanced learning of wireless equipment and begins the hands-on portion of the training. Kevin Moyher from Times Microwave will demonstrate the correct procedures for installing LMR connectors.  Many other manufacturers from all your favorite product lines will also be on hand to provide technical assistance during the setup and configuration portions of the hands-on training. The class will be divided up into smaller groups, with each group selecting the type of equipment they plan on deploying The forth day will be more hands-on but with trouble shooting and channel interference being the highlight in the afternoon. The last day is devoted to preparing the student for the PART-15.ORG License Exempt Wireless Internet Service Provider�s �Professional Installer� testing and certification.
