Title: RE: [smartBridges] Need advice on airPoint Pro Outdoor AP

Ye but why use the old POE when the new ones so kewl looking and so much better :D

None of my ap's have failed ever ... (except for one that's got us confused it seems to be giving.. strange throughput but we feel its antenna wire or interference (hopefully not the 300$ antenna :( )

polarity.

The old POE can do 300 feet. You just need a 18V power adapter. The new
PoE is still a few weeks away for product availability.

300' will definitly require the new POE. I have had no problems with
weather. But, I have also never had a unit die either (without good
cause,
like lightning). You should read the past posts about problems and make
your
own decisions. Don't forget that this list is only a small fraction of
the
distributed base and is not a completely accurate picture of SB
products.
There have been problem (some big ones) but I feel that they are past.
The
new equipment also looks promising. Email me of list of you have
specific
problems. I have helped set up severl WISPs in my area as well as my own
and
hopefull will be assisting with one a few states away soon (thanks
Nimish!).

Hi,

Does anyone out there have experience of using airPoint Pro outdoor
AP? I'm planning to use it and would like to know how it fares against
the weather elements? Also, I plan to run about 300 feet of oudoor
CAT5 cable to the AP so I'd like to have recommendation on the AC
dapter that has correct polarity on the DC out plug.

Thanks,
Minh
