Actually, I find that if you hit refresh immediately after manually associating, the AP will show up, then if you hit refresh again, it disappears for a couple of seconds. Keep hitting refresh, and eventually is shows up permanently... I think this might be normal what you are seeing - likely a function of the simplemonitor software rather than the radios themselves.
