We have already implemented in our new firmware release 0.01.07
which auto sense the AP every 6 minutes interval.
Before the above firmware release, we have developed our own
software utility to reset the device in case of no traffic pass thru for a
certain interval of time.
We have tested this software in our in-house as well as the few
customer sites, considerably we found better
improvements in the network.
If you are already using a new firmware on the aB,
there is no need of this software.

Why can't this be
firmware based instead of client pc based seeni, sorry to say but Ethernet
clients and software don't mix very well having clients install it is not a
possibility for me it just isn't most of the people here wish they had 0
running in the background is there any plan to upgrade simplestatus from
client pc to firmware hardcode?

Yes. this software should be
installed at the (client side) customer PC which is connected behind one
airBridge unit. This software should be running always at the back round of
the PC.

PLEASE keep in mind this simple
status will not work for you unless the radio is connected DIRECT to the
customer PC...
So far I have had it loaded on
one customers PC who does not have a router yet and it seems to work I will
call him this evening to get more feedback..

We did not implement
watchdog timer feature in the hardware, however we have included this
feature in our new firmware 1.4j.8 and 0.01.07.
We also have a (simple
reset) smartbridges utiltiy called simplestatus and this utility for the
airBridge, to be installed on the client end. You can set the time
interval
to check the
association. On wireless link and if it is not associated to the AP, it
will automatically reset the aB.
The client PC should be
running this software at back round screen.
You can download the
simpleStatus 090 at http://www.smartbridges.com/beta/utility/simpleStatus090.exe
If any one interested,
please try this software and give us your feedback.
Thank you

If thats the cause why is it not
working? maybe we need to focus on that if in fact they do have a watchdog
timer in the units already? but from my past conversations about the
effectiveness of the simple status and explaining this type of feature
"watchdog timer" should be in the firmware I got an answer of
hmmm we will look into it.. So to me that would indicate it is not in there
already?

It has been in there since the
product was released. The watchdog timer is a hardware implimentation that
preforms a hard reset when the firmware quits responding.

Why doesn't SB software people consider a watchdog timer in the
firmware we could set on/off and time between boots ? It would reboot the
SB device if it were not associated for xx mins. We could set this
feature on or off and set the xx mins time. Not hard to implement, and it
might help with the rebooting need.
